NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) Classes

November 16 2004NLP 01: Rapport, modalities: visual, auditory, kinesthetic (feeling). Anchoring.
November 23 2004NLP 02: Primary motivation strategies: moving toward pleasure, moving away from pain. Goal setting. There is no failure, only feedback. There are no mistakes, only outcomes.
November 30 2004NLP 03: Framing. The map is not the territory.
December 7 2004NLP 04: The meaning of communication is the response you get. Communicate in their language. Benefits without features have no credibility. Features without benefits have no relevance. Show, don't tell. Ask for feedback. Always call for action. Campaign 365 days a year. Plus Attention Deficit Disorder, education.
December 14 2004NLP 05: Goal-setting. What is the purpose of your life? Associate picture, sound, feeling with goal. Desire. Story. Don't share your goal with others (unless very close) until you've reached it. Visualize yourself in that future. Begin it now!
December 28 2004NLP 06: Comfort Zones. If you always do what you've always done, you will always get what you've always gotten. Expanding your comfort zone: 1: experience (pushing though) 2: coaching, 3: passion and vision. Creativity, brainstorming. What to do when what you are doing gets larger than you can handle.
January 05 2005NLP 07: Framing. Anchoring. How we store information in the brain. Submodalities. Changing the meaning of events in the mind.
January 11 2005NLP 08: Embedding ideas or information into people's unconscious. Conscious mind has filter, knows context - unconscious doesn't (e.g. "I, like you..."). Arc of competence (conscious & unconscious). Stories framed in second person ("I told him, 'you...'"). Embedding pictures. Future and the previous pacing (e.g. people wondering about cigars). Double negatives. 'Know' can be interpreted like 'no'. Strong active verbs.
January 18 2005NLP 09: We are all made up of multiple persons. Each part of us brings the resources along with it that it has the best access to. There are many parts that we all have in common. If you identify the part that you are speaking to and you identify the message that you're delivering and make them congruent then your message will have much more impact.
February 01 2005NLP 10: President Bush drops the word 'crisis' to characterize Social Security. Branding, logo, identity. What's in it for you or for me? Who am I? Features and benefits. Features without benefits lack relevance, benefits without features lack credibility. Democratic Party identity.
February 15 2005NLP 11: Branding. Features without a larger context are irrelevant. Benefits statements without features lack credibility. Identity. Democrats need sense of tribe. LBJ, Martin Luther King, Franklin Roosevelt, Teddy Roosevelt, Thomas Jefferson understood branding.
