Frames

Latest frames

The permanent war machine.

Don't call it a troop surge in Iraq - it's an escalation.

Thom suggests that the American presence in Iraq is not a war but an occupation (Reclaim the Issues - "Occupation, Not War"). If the invasion could ever be called a war, that war was over when President Bush stood on the deck of an aircraft carrier and declared 'mission accomplished'.

Other frames to be aware of

It's the estate tax or the inheritance tax, but Newt Gingrich among others calls it the Death Tax and Thom calls its abolition the Paris Hilton tax cut. Read the transcript of Thom's discussion with Grover Norquist on the topic here.

They cynically talk about "free markets" while working to make markets as unfree as possible.

Taxes are not a burden, but an investment. Tax relief implies a burden.

Not tax cuts but tax deferals - future generations will have to pay for them.

Illegal employers, not illegal immigrants (Reclaiming the Issues: 'It's an Illegal Employer Problem').
