... Here's an interesting 'review' from Chalmers Johnson -not your typical film reviewer- on not only Charlie Wilson's War, but the 'blowback' we are experiencing today as a result...
... I noticed that Ren had started a thread on the other board regarding this movie, and since I cannot seem to log in over there -I'll comment over here... Smiler

Charlie Wilson's War

... Here, Chalmers Johnson shows us he has a certain sense of humor;

quote:
What to make of the film (which I found rather boring and old-fashioned)? It makes the U.S. government look like it is populated by a bunch of whoring, drunken sleazebags, so in that sense it’s accurate enough. But there are a number of things both the book and the film are suppressing. As I noted in 2003,

Hi Lawrence,

You're supposed to receive an email and reply to it before you get in.

I've let you in, though.

I registered over the weekend and never got the email. I have to tell you Sue that I really like what you did with the way this site looks and works and I dislike the way the new board looks so much I had second thoughts about even registering. Having read some of the posts there, I did feel the dialog is worth while. I only hope that you can make it appear similar to this one which kind of feels like home.

A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship.

Thanks Sawdust.

There was a delay sending out emails at the weekend, but they should all have been sent out yesterday. Please check your spam box. If not...

You didn't use the same email address as you did here, so the emal address needs verifying in case you miss-typed it. Please email me at thomhartmannadminsue@googlemail.com using the address you used there, and I'll let you in.

I'm having problems registering on the new site, as well. Sigh...

Hi, Political Amazon. It looks as though you have registered OK over there. What happens when you try to log in?
