quote:
A few minutes later, Cheney accidentally shot Whittington, according to Pamela Willeford, the U.S. ambassador to Switzerland, who was hunting with the pair on the 50,000-acre Armstrong Ranch in South Texas.

Cheney sprayed Whittington with birdshot across his face, shoulder and chest, said Katharine Armstrong, whose family owns the ranch in Kenedy County.

"He got peppered pretty good," she said. "He's going to be sore and bruised. But he was talking and communicating the whole time."

Armstrong was with the hunting party but in a nearby vehicle with her sister.

So who is her sister? This makes a 5th person on the trip, and no one has named her. Willeford was hunting and not in the car (or so it sounds) so I doubt Armstrong and Willeford are sisters.

Heh, answering my own questions here.
NYTimes

quote:
Ms. Willeford, whose husband was also at the ranch, said in an interview after visiting the victim at the hospital that Mr. Whittington accepted responsibility for the accident. "He understands that he could have handled it better," Ms. Willeford said. "Harry should have let us know he was back there."

If her husband was there, we need to know more about Armstrong's unnamed sister.

I'll bet anything Cheney was drunk at the time. The press didn't hear about this until 20 hours later.

18+ hours is plenty of time to 'sober up' and 'blow' nothing in a breathalyzer...
