In order to refocus the US on Bush's spiraling debt, I think every Democratic official should be required to wear a little digital clock on a chain around their neck that reflects the current national debt. The digits would be rolling so fast as to be unreadable. This would guarantee that every US citizen would be made aware of the debt issue because they would see this debt clock on every TV show where a Democrat has been invited or appears on.

One thing missing in that budget is the amount paying off the National Debt. That's an extremely important number because it's money you CAN'T spend, but you have to collect. I'd like to see how this has gone up over Dubya's administration. With interest rates rising, it's bound to increase even more.
Whether your Right or Left, only the most maniacal, insane NeoCon could possibly think that a good expediture of taxpayer money is paying off BANKS, especially foreign ones.

I'm not sure I understand the shock and puzzlement over the huge debt our country is experiencing.
Grover Norquist is the current president's economic guru. Grover Norquist has made it clear that the goal is to shrink government "to where you can drown it in the bathtub". Grover Norquist's strategy is clearly to bankrupt the government to the point that it is unable to fund social programs that are anathema to the conservative agenda. Everything that the current president has accomplished serves to fulfill this agenda.
We are all watching it happen right in front of our eyes, but just can't find it in ourselves to believe that anyone would actively seek to pursue such a strategy.

I'll bet your favorite section of the Sunday paper is the comic section, right?
Ok Peewee, now that you are done snickering over your little comment, it might interest you to know you are correct. Newspapers are yesterday's news for those of us who get most of our information online. The same can be said for the depth of the coverage from a newspaper vs online as well. Still, I am sure newspapers will always fill a nitch in society. I hear they make great birdcage liners.
Now Peewee,
I have a challenge for you!
Find me a better source for where our tax dollars go. Bear in mind, it has to be easier to use.

Artlo, there comes a point at which there's no going back. The ballooning of the Federal government cannot be stopped now. Don's signature quote from Tytler is apropos. The only thing left to do is speed the system into its grave and then start over from the rubble. That's not what anyone in power now has in mind, but their actions serve the same purpose.
Interestingly enough, this was a strategy the Communists were pursuing in this country at one time. Their idea was to crash the system by stirring public demand for a continually expanding number of government programs and budgets, until the whole thing would collapse under its own weight.
