BTW... the bill passed through the House today... elimination of the penny and nickel entirely from the US monetary system. If it passes Senate and Bush signs, no penny or nickel will be legal currency after Jan 1, 2008.

The penny and nickel bill is a holdover bill from the 2006 Congress that came out of Committee and hit the floor today, passed the house by 7 votes.

Does that mean a nickel isn't even worth a penney now and that it takes a dime to take the penney's place?

Guess things marked $1.99 will now cost $2.10.
