I'm really starting to have a problem with all this shame. I mean, how much shame can a person feel, even if we are Americans?

Or should our shame be limitless?

As I recall, Miles, you are in Holland. So when the original poster said "We should be ashamed", I guess according to you she meant "Americans should be ashamed".
Now, I don't like this Neocon regime any more than you do, but do you think you could be more constructive than to castigate all Americans for the acts of a handful of unelected leaders?

Give me and example how.

BTW, my pathetic excuse for a government collectively decided that GWB is the best thing that ever happened to the world, and mindlessly follows him to whatever greatness he will lead us.

Don't you for a moment think I'm NOT ashamed.

Well, I'm pretty sure I'm as much ashamed as you are, but I'm not going to ritually scarify myself over it.

BTW, I heard Miles Davis was inducted into the Rock'n Roll hall of Fame. I didn't know he was a rocker Confused

I don't sacrify myself over anything, so basically, I ask you again:

Give me an example how to be more constructive about it.

You did accuse me of "whining and bitching" a few posts ago. Now you want me to explain how to be more constructive.

OK, for starters you should watch the movie "What the Bleep: Down the Rabbit Hole", and really take it to heart. Maybe that will give you some insight as to your essentially negative attitude towards life and other people.

When I said we should be ashamed I meant it! When we allow our tax dollars to poison EVERYONE in Iraq and Afghanistan with DEPLETED URANIUM and say nothing we are guilty of be "ENABLERS"! I've written every newspaper in my area (several times) and not one has printed a story about DU! I see protests all over the country, do I see signs that say STOP USING DU! NO! DU is Americas dirty little secret!

This last election cycle we had a candidate for Lt. Governor who retired from the V.A. after quite a few years. I asked him about the back up and pressures upon the V.A., what numbers he could confirm and such, he was near despair about the silence in this country about the health effects of DU upon the veterans of Gulf I and the growing numbers of radiological illnesses being ignored as a "syndrome".
This entire thing is a health care disaster which will show the real face of the "caring" corporate fascists as they wave the flag and beat the drums. It will not be possible for them to hide this,as genetic damage to the children of these vets will be seen in all the public schools, cancer rates are already over the top and it gets worse...
We shall look back in wonder at our foolish, prideful arguments, perhaps shame is too slight a term for what we are doing to each other.
