Where to start. Petreas casualty numbers were nuts!!! The statement was that US casualties were greatly less, but the following link will take you to a summary of all deaths in Iraq over during the campaign:
http://icasualties.org/oif/default.aspxVery difinitive site. In general, for the 8 months of 2007, casualties have been higher for EVERY month in comparison with the coresponding months in 2006. For those 8 months, 2007 showed the highest casualties for all years since 2003 with 2 exceptions. Average deaths per month ARE NOT 60 per month, but average about 95 per month.
US deaths are 3776 to date this year. The "coalition" lost a total of about 310, of which 169 were UK deaths. 19 countries reported deaths. The US has sustained 92% of the deaths from this War, this year.
Coalition numbers are not 36 countries, but 21. See
http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/ops/iraq_orbat_coalition.htmThese 21 countries provide 14,200 Troops total, almost all in support as opposed to soldiering activities. Or the 14000, 7200 are UK and 2600 are South Korea, and both countries are reducing troups quickly as are many of the others.
