We are calling on people to take independent mass actions locally on Tues. Jan. 31 (starting at 8pm ET, one hour before Bush's State of the Union Address) as well as demonstrating on Sat. Feb. 4th at Washington, D.C.
I was just listening to the news and G W was on. He was defending his wiretapping.
"Why tell the enemy what we are doin".
Is he equating reporting to the FISA court the same as telling the enemy what we are doing. Which enemy is he talking about? Our Courts? The American people? The Democrats? I'm certain The secret FISA court is not going to pass on information to AL-Qaeda. So, who is referring to when he suggests that reporting, even after the fact, is the same as reporting to the enemy. Does he mean America's enemies or his enemies? I'm sure the secret court will be able to keep a secret. Unless, of course, he is worried that the american people will find out who they really have in their surveilance crosshairs. I'm positive Cheney, Rove, and company do not want us to know. And if they don't report, then they can't get caught in a lie. We're not asking him to tell Bin laden. We're asking him to inform, after the fact, our court. Our friend. It's what he is required to do by law. We are not asking for any thing other than what he is supposed to be doing already.

I completely agree with you supper! I also caught that from Bush! Does he think we have terrorists on the FISA Court? Now Bush is saying the FISA laws from 1978 are what? Outdated, etc. He said hey the FISA laws are from 1978 and this is 2006! Does Bush think because a law is old it expires? Again Bush's ignorance of how this country works is showing! I truly believe Bush never earned a college degree. Like his presidentcy his degree was appointed to him!
Defending the country against it's government is a requirment for every patriotic citizen.

First off, I would like to thank Thom Hartmann for giving me hope. I'm finishing _WWJD?_ after reading _Screwed_. Together with the influence of Air America Radio I found out about World Can't Wait. I want to get involved and I'm trying to get the word out, online and in person with my friends and neighbors. Here's a letter I'm working on: I'm sending it to Editors, Members of Congress, posting on blogs on the left and on the right.
What do you think? ----------- ----------- The Cons are feeling the heat. They are turning up the volume on the propaganda ("The Road to 9-11" is undeniably pure propaganda), and barreling towards war with Iran (no pun intended). It is time for "We the People" to wrest control of OUR government from corporatists that would bleed us all dry and send us packing towards Armageddeon.
This is not a Democrat vs. Republican issue, nor a Liberal vs. (true) Conservative one. It is the age-old struggle between Patriots and Loyalists. The ruling elite are secretly dismantling democracy in the US in order to maintain control. This is happening right in front of our eyes, there are more than a few problems with our polling places. People aren't fooled anymore, the long sleep that began with Reagan is over - unfortunately it might not matter what vote you cast, with the flip of a switch the election can be given to the corporate elite's candidate of choice.
Educate yourself! Read about the founders of a once great country called the United States of America. (I'd suggest anything by Thom Hartmann (www.thomhartmann.com). They understood the corrupting influence of money and that absolute power corrupst absolutely!

Americans are for Peace not for pre-emptive and endless war. People the world over do not like to be occupied by foriegn armies. The Vietnamese people didn't give up until we left. Why would we think that the embattled people of the middle east would act any differently? Would we if the tables were turned? What would you do if a foreign power came here, killed tens of thousands of people, and started building PERMANENT military bases. (Oh yes, if we don't change the course of this country we'll never leave Iraq. I believe that the Cons never had any intention of leaving.
Know a vet or an active-duty soldier? Let them know you appreciate their sacrifice. Share the true history of the anti-war movement of the 60's and 70's; our heroes in uniform ENDED Vietnam by banding together.
i totally agree. this isnt a party issue. this is an american issue. the reason we left the briish empire in the first place is because of all the restrictions, unlawful taxations, and violation of rights. the same is happening now. we have lost the system of checks and balances. even though the gop controls all branches of the government, the signing statements that bush adds to almost every law he signs means he can interpret those laws in anyway he sees fit, which mostly means for his or his parties gain. these signing statements essentally make the judical and legistlative branches ineffective, as any law passed he can determine if its lawful and he can modify any law passed by the legistlative branch.
this abuse of power must be stopped! along with our civil rights, the power of the american people is being eroded right in front of us. until bush took power, there was no such thing as "free speech zones". there was no patriot act, which allows for ANYONE to be detained if they are deemed an enemy of the united states. who makes this decision whos an enemy? none other than our president and the cia of course. this potentially puts anyone here in america at risk from unlawful seisures, detention at undisclosed locations, detention for an undetermined peroid of time, detention without any legal council, detention without charges being leveled against you, and no compensation for an detentions that aer later deemed a mistake. such disregard for basic american principles need to stop!! this nation is turning into a dictatorship where only the ones in power have a say in how things are run and the rest of us are scrammbling to wonder what happened.
as for our fighting men and women overseas, they are doing a hell of a job considering the circumstances. they are doing their job, but unfortunetly, the powers that be are not doing theirs.
------------------------------------------ debating conservatives is easy. so easy, even a caveman can do it!
