It’s been a while now since Leonardo DiCaprio produced a short web film on global warming inspired by Thom’s book, “The Last Hours of Ancient Sunlight”. You can stream it here by clicking on the “global warming” banner.
Now Leonardo has produced a feature-length documentary, "The 11th Hour" about the fate and future of the human race. It also draws on “The Last Hours of Ancient Sunlight” and Thom is interviewed in it. The movie will be premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in France (16-27 May 2007), and then set for a US release in the late summer/early fall.

I just watched this and was very impressed, plus I found the website very informative. It is true that all our other little disagreements on this site, are very relative to the destruction of our planet. By the way, where in the UK do you live. My husband is Scottish and we used to live in Edinburgh (just moved back in early 2006)

SueN, Did you watch the documentary on Channel 4 about the whole climate warming issue being a hoax? There is a thread about it under environment, and it seems to me it provides much leverage for the counter arguement to climate change. I am surprised Channel 4 would broadcast such a show. Your thoughts?

No, I didn't see the film. I rarely watch TV and had not realised it was going to be on.
Thom had Ross Gelbspan on today to rebut it, and I'm just starting a transcript of that, so I should have more of an idea after that. Gonna take me a while though because Thom kept him on over 2 or 3 breaks.

Warner Independent Pictures has scooped up domestic distribution rights to Leonardo DiCaprio's environmentally minded documentary, with Warner Bros. Pictures International taking overseas rights. DiCaprio produced and narrated The 11th Hour, which premieres at the Cannes Film Festival later this month. He wrote it with Leila Conners Petersen and Nadia Conners, who together directed. Warner Independent and Warners International are eyeing a fall release. The movie draws from the book “The Last Hours of Ancient Sunlight” written by Air America’s very own Thom Hartmann. At Leonardo’s request, Thom makes an appearance in the film as what he likes to call a “talking head” interviewed about the fate of humanity. http://11thhourfilm.com
