Thicker hypocracy?
Impossible.

I like the moderators here. We can disagree about politics but they don't take it or make it personal.

O boy... Maybe some day Sawdust can explain the "good o'days" to you. He's seen it all.

I think it has settled quite nicely, Although we are short some posters

I do know a slew of right wing neo-cons that are looking for good debate on a variety of topics.

I've always enjoyed the rare liberal that frequented other right wing boards that I hung out at.
They provided something to think about, contest, search out answers as to why you believe what you believe. Sometimes they varified the opinions I hold.
Some of them were pretty sharp and made a good case.
Being in the political minority on this board, it is interesting to watch the name calling, anger, terms like "cyber rape", and crying about the evil neo-cons.
The clincher is the blasting of the host with insults while using and enjoying his site...that he pays for!
Never a dull moment fo sho.

I was being a bit too sensitive before. I guess my point is that we are here to debate different issues, but not each other as people. We can hit hard on the issues, but cutting personal attacks serve no purpose here. Sure, good-natured ribbing is always fun, and heavy doses of sarcasm too, but with people you actually know a little bit, even if just in an online sense. I'm new to this site and these boards, and none of you know me or my background anymore than I know you and yours. I let loose a bit on GG on another thread about contraception (I felt provoked when she made statements about what I should say and do to my own wife; uncalled for, but...) but that was an uncalled for loss of control on my part. Otherwise I try to keep my comments about the issue at hand, not the person posting.

Log, you'll note I said things something like "I don't agree with your frame of reference" and "i believe". I didn't call out you, by saying something like "Oh I didn't realize you were such a Constitutional scholar." We all do however poke fun mercilessly at politicians, pundits, and more!

Log you are obviously an informed guy, and research thing well to back up your points. There are many folks that appear to be smart and lively here. Like I said I'm new here, and I hate to already see people leaving and threads being trashed. I'm not singling out just you, Log. Buteos, Ariel, Slab, GG, and others have posted some mean, stupid stuff. We all have to work on our skills. I've never been a big message board guy because of that, because often there are too many immature people posting mean, un-academic, and vulgar posts.

Yeah this kinda became a long-winded. Don't mean to be an ideologue, don't mean this as a holier-than-thou diatribe. As a newbie I hope this can continue to be a useful, academic, lively forum.

Stark, keep being who you are and doing what you do. You are on the right track. And welcome!

I take a break occasionally. It's the extremists on both sides that ruin it, and they are often the most intolerant and rude. Since joining this forum, I've been accused of being a wacky liberal, unpatriotic seditionist, not progressive enough, a conservative cheerleader, etc.... but I don't mind so much because I know that when another chooses to define me instead of discuss and issue, it tells me all I need to know about him/her. It seems really important for some people here to choose up sides or be on a team, some find it really important to think they are right, or to be declared a winner, or that only their path is valid. Those things aren't important to me either, because I'm not here to compete. Maybe I'm being an ideologue too, because I think there can be cooperative dialog between people who don't always square on the issues. When I find that someone doesn't want that, I just don't interact with them anymore (ie: GG).

Yeah it might be spamming, but who says we can't enjoy the occasional can of spiced ham? Hmm?

Ron is the one spamming though, and he best be careful posting pics of defenseless animals on this thread. I imagine Log, Slab, and others are already lining up their shots and planning a big donkey-bear-pig-tiger roast.

Lisa, thanks for your sentiments. I can't help but keep being who I am. And while I oppose sport/trophy hunting, you might be interested to know I was well-trained in the hunting of humans.

Actually,

it's deer, elk, and fish roast for me.
The freezer just got a delivery of marlin, tuna, and dorado(mahi mahi).

Humans are fish in a barrel.
They are loud, clumsy, can't hear, can't see, don't think, and they smell.
Some even consider themselves bulletproof.

Textbook example of projection: ones innermost feelings of oneself. You did get part of the smell thing right though, excessive meat eaters do have that stench oozing from their pores. Keep it rolling Slab, your a classic.

LOL. Actually, they do! Just as bad an odor as cigarette smoke lingering on a smoker's clothing is for a non-smoker Smiler

Not really, but I could nav it. There's some controversy about the veracity of the book and who it really supports. I'll just say I think coming of age via true physical & psychological hardship was the best way for me, and often is for others.

I'd be careful there. That kind of assumption has led to many deaths, and separates drone soldiers from real Marines and operators.

Don't read too much into it.
Compared to a 4 legged vegitarian, humans are outmatched physically and sense wise. Our brain is our only saving grace.
