Just curious - I've posted a couple previously, and received zero replies ... so is this an elitist kind of territory where you don't acknowledge new folks until they've done what exactly?

I've been here for years, and many of my main posts go without replies. That doesn't mean they aren't read.

If you engage in other threads and get to know people, you'll be read more often, I'm sure.

Welcome.

I posted for awhile at Randi Rhodes board some time ago. First requirement there is one must have posted X number of posts (20 or 25, can't recall) before one has the privilege of starting one's own thread topic. It's actually not a bad idea. One gets to know a bit about what's being discussed and how it gets handled by different members, and in the process, the starting of a thread can be pitched in a way that might invite comment. That goes for all political stripes, including the apoliticals.

Long, dense personal opinion starter posts by unknown posters are commonly ignored (I peeked at your two other posts). That's just the way it is.

To be honest, maybe a little. Since it appears that you are not a premium member, you are regulated to the "back benches"-you could say. All the best conversations and much of what you posted is in the premium sections as of now.

Also Jason is correct, most people want to get to know you before jumping onto any first post of a new person. So it might be good to find threads you are interested in before trying to start a discussion.

Also from my experience if you continue to develop your thread and not just abandon it on your first post, many people will join in the discussion later. I know it is a little silly talking to yourself but at least you are getting your ideas down and building a reputation.

Anyway, Welcome to Thom's Forum.
I hope you find your stay here beneficial to yourself. And I am sure with your background people will be interested in what you have to say. Smiler

Most of my posts go unreplied, but I keep on posting anyway like I just don't care laugh

Anyway, we are very tolerant here so there is no restriction on responding to yourself roflmao

There is actually one guy here who responds to himself always with one word: "Bump".

It reminds me of the joke about the workout gym. People join with every intention of losing some baggage, but after a few sessions they never return. Those customers are called "profit".

Yes, I think it is a lot better for [certain] people to shield their eyes instead of being faced with the problems with Cognitive Dissonance.

some times its beneficial to be ignored. consider Harriet Nahanee who refused to be ignored and for this she was given a death sentence by the a canadian court. Harriet was no less that MLK, Ghandi, or Mandela. Her lifelong protest was against the continuing genocide of the First Nation's peoples in Canada. for more info see www.hiddenfromhistory.org Harriet at age 72, frail in health was thrown in a filthy Canadian jail where she contracted pnemonia and later died--all because she wouldn't be ignored.

Ahhh, I'll just jump back in for a moment ... I do a lot of travelling, and don't usually get into any on-line stuff till I get back home
Anyway, I certainly appreciate your comments ... and in that regard, might I ask if any of you did indeed check out my previous thread (or at least, single stitch!) re: global warming, political activism and diet choice?
