There are people who are Elders in most churches. they are supposed to wise and filled with the grace of God. In this case, unlike a lot of churches it is true. I received an email from them yesterday that made me so angry I couldn't function for a while. I am going to share it with you.

Please invest 39 cents and write this woman and tell her we know and we care. I am going to send a US savings bond along with a card.

I ask, of course that no one send letters saying you got what you deserved. Please be kind or be quiet. Thank you

Here is the story:

(First-the email from my friends)
Dear Friends,

A request for love and support for a young woman you do not know, but whose husband has paid the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

Laura is the granddaughter of a dear long-time friend of ours from Ohio. Her story is below.

David was killed in Iraq 2 weeks ago. Their son is only 2 years old.

Her address is : Laura Unger
c/o Misty Smith
3405 10th Avenue
Leavenworth, KS 66048

If you could help flood her with cards and prayers for comfort, we would greatly appreciate it.

Thank you,
Jim & Barbara

That would be fine, Laura needs all the help she can get right now. Here is some backround.
Laura and David met in highschool, Laura wanted to go into the Army and talked David into joining as well. They got married after boot camp and Laura became pregnant. Laura wanted to stay in the Army, but the Army wanted her to sign over custody of the baby so that she could be deployed. She refused so she was released from the Army, and of course David had to stay in. So Laura feels that it is her fault that David was killed and is under doctors care. She is living with her mother.
It will take a long time for her to recover from this so I think it will help her to know that there are so many people out there that care.

(third--the only online proof I could locate without having to register)

Thanks for stepping up to the plate. I think we can all afford this family a few minutes of our life.
