I remember when the liars took us into Iraq. I rember a billboard covered with a rich dude's comments: "Support the team or leave the stadium". I remember A different message on the same billbouard condemning Patty Murry for her lack of support for our illustrious Commander in Chief an the _WAR_. What people seem to miss i all this is that it was the enabling Republican House of Representatives that _MADE_ Pinnochio Bush.
Our Constitution declares that OUR House of Representatives is the seat of power in this nation. This was done because that body was the _ONLY_ department of government directly elected by the people, and the people would not ratify anything less. It can be argued, I think successfully, that the rest of our government (save the executive) is in place to prevent heated populism from trampling the rights of the minority (primarily the rich people).
Here and now marks a watershed in our history. Will the new House of Representatives reign in the imperial majesty in the oval office, or will they shirk their responsibility to the people? Will the military recognize that their
pledge to protect and defend the Constitution trumps their allegience to the "commander in chief"?
It will, to say the least, be interesting.
"I know no safe depository for the ultimate power of society but the people themselves; and if we think them incompetent to exercise this power with a wholesome discretion, ours is not to take it from them, but to educate their discretion." -- Jefferson
