I'm interested in that tea recipe you mentioned in the prayer forum. How is it prepared?

Also, have you found any gold?

Hi Kate,

I'm sure herbalists would consider my methods very crude, however, for this brew I do this.

equal parts of each plant or herb ground up (about the amount found in a tea bag)placed in a ginseng cooker. Ginseng cooker has double lids which keeps evaporation to a minimum.

about 4 or 5 cups of Pure h2o (never use tap water)

place the ginseng cooker in a pot of boiling water. never alow the water in the ginseng cooker to reach a boiling point.

Cook for 30 min to 2 hours or until one quarter to one half of the water in the cooker is gone.
(different herbs require various lengths of cooking time to extract the essence)

sip half of it now and save a cup for later.

I've aquired a desire for the flavor of various herbs and like bits of them in the tea. Sometimes i will strain it through a paper cone coffee filter.

Also, have you found any gold?

Since 1986 I have accumulated 51 oz(troy) 7 pennyweight. It takes 20 pwt. to make 1 troy oz. I always prospect in old gold areas. This helps to narrow down where the concentrates are. During the terrtiary(sp) period a massive river ran north and south through the western US.The sierra rose up, changed the shape of the land and caused the rivers to flow east and west. Erosion cuts throught these massive gold fields and deposits the gold in various rivers at various elevations. History, maps, geology and learning to read the land reveal alot. our friend sawdust probably knows far more about this geology than my crude understanding.

I kind of use this hobby as an excuse just to get out in the wilderness and fine tune and appreciate my "hunter" assets. One of my friends has a 4" dredge on our best weekend we've accumulated 2 and a quarter oz. It requires diving and a lot of underwater work. I dont like dredging because of the noise and the disruption of the enviornment. It becomes too serious. and removes the best elements and benifits of being in the wilderness and nature. I prefer crevecing and hand sluice boxing to seperate the gravel and extract the gold. I really never care if I find any thing, although I always do.
Its all a matter of reading the terrain and knowing the heavy metal, and following intuition and being smarter then the gold. Smiler

Does it matter which kinds of herbs you use for this (I read the list in the other thread) ? And, since I live in the city, can I also use the herbs that are available in the organic healthstores?

And, what exactly, if I may be so blunt, does drinking this tea do for you except replace the daily loss of fluids? Wink

Where do you get the herbs, for your tea, Bamboo?

Your explorations for gold sound like they use lots of skills and insights the average person doesn't get, poking around in Ebay. Big Grin

Morning, Usha. Smiler

Yes organic healthstores are excellent source.Whenever I make it to Sacramento (several times a year) I always go to china town,(asia town)on stockton blvd.there are a number of chinese herbalist and small markets that are a good source.
Afriend of mine who was born in China comes from a long line of Chinese medicine practioners. She is a graduate of the Academy of Chinese Culture and Health Science in Oakland, Ca. She provides some herbs and perscriptions which can only be filled at the Cninese markets. These stores are extrodinary. One feels as though they just walked into a different country when they enter the door.
Ron Teeguarden got me started in the herb thing after i read his book in 1987. He's the BEST western source for Chinese herbs. Herbs can be bought from his site also.

This tea mentioned above relieves anxiety, calms the CNS, relaxes muscles, detoxes and alows deep restful sleep. Also aids as an anti spasmodic to help relieve muscle twitches Smiler

Have a great day Kate,I'm off to work

Sorry Kate and Usha. first thing in the morning i usually have 8 or 9 windows up. I must have scrolled down too quick, or something Red Face Confused Thats my excuse and I'm sticking to it Big Grin

Gaia has a similar formula in a tablet called Serenity. Sometimes I like the ritual of the preparing the herbs though.

Very cool post, Bamboo. I'm saving it where I will remember to look. Smiler
quote:
quote:
Has anybody ever heard God speaking to them?

Bamboo: It was during a time in my life when I was engaged in very self-destructive behavior. I always thought I could maintain balance as I have been an athlete and practiced martial arts most of my life. Something happened in my early forties and I found myself closer to the edge. Three ribs were broke in my last kickboxing match. Instead of considering my healing as part of my practice as usual, I drank and druged more and more. It took me very close to the edge, but what a great place, all my changes happen there.

One nite as I lie in bed my matress rolled up around me so tight I could not move. I thought someone was playing a joke on me. I passed out from lack of air and when I regained consciousness I was floating, suspended in a black void. Body was not present only mind. A yellow pastel ring appeared with a tone. Then a blue pastel ring, also with a tone and a vibration. Then a pink one. They floated along with me in this black void all with their own vibration and tone, very distinct.

A voice said, or I sensed a thought that conveyed "these are the vibrations of all things."

I thought how beautiful, it was undescribable.

The rings aligned in front of one another, superimposed over each other, then with each of their distinct tones...

a chord and a soft thumping began. The sound was like an omnipresent pulsing engine. I recognized it as something familiar. There was no difference between it and my being.

The voice said " this is the sound and pulse of the universe. It is present in all things at all times, it is in you"

For two weeks I felt it everywhere I went. I sat on the beach staring at the ocean for days and felt it in the sand. Everything I engaged in, it was present. This "voice" altered my existence, perception and behavior.

Miles, I have not read CWG, so I cant relate this to that. But I have never considered nor has the name god entered my thoughts in relation to this phenomena.

My own spiritual experiences have always been closer to Eastern philosophy. Sometimes "I" think of it as the Tao, but the Tao described by words is not the Tao. Smiler

Hi Kate-

and thanks,

Hope I didn't offend any of the gods or anyone over there in the god realm..... I think not, that would be foolish to believe such a thought.

The dogs just came tearing in with their balls. guess it's time to go play ball. Smiler

See ya

Recently, I heard the author, Margaret Atwood, talking on a PBS program about the relationship between religion and politics. She made a sobering observation, that a successful religio/political power will first eliminate those closest to (but somehow in opposition to) the state sanctioned religious creed. She had examples from history, but I don't recall any of them.

So, when you say "I hope I didn't offend any of the gods," it all depends, doesn't it?

Kate-

I just listened to that interview here

http://www.pbs.org/moyers/watch_atwood.html

I didnt notice the date of the interview but imo she described exactly what is happening at this moment."how they will suggest and ask us to give up our freedoms to preserve freedom"

I liked what she said about Jesus never writing anything down about himself, his life or his teachings and the difference between the evolution of spirit and dogma.

quote:
So, when you say "I hope I didn't offend any of the gods," it all depends, doesn't it?

yes. To use Margaret Atwoods phrase. I may have offended the "Nobadaddy"(sp) that angry bearded tyrant that floats around in the clouds with rules and punishments. Eeker

From what I read from others in the CWG thread I don't feel the book has anything to do with "Nobadaddy".

Thanks for the link to the interview, Bamboo. Your summary points are similar to the ones I would have jotted down, had I been taking notes as I watched the program. I read The Handmaid's Tale, one of the books the exchange kept referring back to. I found it rather dark. I wonder if I have forgotten some hopeful aspects to that book.

I like the way Margaret Atwood speaks: intelligently, but in sort of a bemused vernacular that emphasizes, and clarifies, the harsher points.
