OK, they've restarted the server and apologised for the inconvenience. Please let me know if you experience further problems.

The forums are still sloooooooooooooooooow. And it's not as if there are many members on... about 8.

This doesn't have anything to do with shutting off the thread pruning... does it? It's not as if the active database could grow so much in a few days.

The problem is slow SQL database access. The hosting company has hundreds of SQL databases on a specialized server which is not the same server this site is served from. This site is being served up fast enough but it has to wait in line for the content. Their database server is severely overloaded.

I doubt it very much. I think the pruning takes place on Mondays, so there would not have been one since I turned it off anyway.

I'd say that Gnarlie has the right of it. Does anyone visit any other boards hosted by Groupee/Eve?

It's better. Now all we have to do is make some of the members a little quicker.

A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship.

Light blue touch paper and retreat. That'll either make them quick or make them dead! lol.
