It's Not Ethical?

With breathtaking irony (**psychological disconnection??), Bush stated, "Destroying human life in the hopes of saving human life is not ethical."

If, in his mind, he was not killing thousands of Iraqis to make life better for the survivors, then why was he killing them?

"It was Einstein himself who said that everything had changed except our thinking."

"Even if our existing thinking culture is limited and inadequate, does that make it dangerous?"

"The direct dangers include crude perceptions, polarizations, misleading effects of language, unnecessary confrontations, righeousness and aggressive beliefs. Many of these are directly responsible for much of the human misery man has inflicted on man." - Edward De Bono

"Thought works by conditioning. It has to get conditioned. You need conditioning to learn a language, to learn how to write, or to do all sorts of things. When the conditioning gets too rigid, though, it won't change when it should." - David Bohm

It's a tendency for people to accept a moral statement in one context without seeing the contradiction when applied to another. Linear thinking, narrowly focused. Morality is utilized to support a particular opinion or action...and discarded when it doesn't support another.

Fundamentalist preachers rely on this tendency. Conservative politicians rely on the Fundamentalist preachers.
