I know it's been a while since this topic has been in the media headlines, but i'm curious to see what others think on this matter.

Over this past summer our president used his 1st presidential veto(after over 5yrs in office) on a bill that would allow federal funds to be used to conduct research on embryonic stem cells. He vetoed that bill claiming he wanted to preserve the sanctity of (potential) life by not destroying the cells in the name of science. However,
(1)he did not criminalize the act of such research; he simply took the ability to conduct the research away from the tax-paying public and put it into the hands of privately owned companies.
(2)So what happens when Merck or Pfizer discover a cure for leukimia or cancer? Will they throw open the access to everyone who needs it? No, they'll sell it for the highest dollar keeping if further away from those who need it, but can't afford it.
(3)In signing the veto last summer, Bush demonstrated his belief that it is unacceptable to use our tax-payer money to destroy embryonic cell tissue in the name of medical research. Yet he believes at the same time that it is okay to use that same money to conduct a war, for a cause he still has yet to justify, which has succeeded in destroying tens if not hundreds of thousands of fully formed, and developed human lives...

His beliefs are clearly supposed to be from the pro-life, evangelical Christian persuassion.. If these are Christian values, what book of the bible am i missing?

1&2, absolutely! b@****ds
3, what's destined for the dixie dumpster is refuse already, so the problem is not a problem...it's insanity, yet the drug co.s ( and perhaps some formations unkown to us peasants ) will have further control of life and death. Wars, murder are entertainment while sex and stem cell research are taboo.

A Huxley, " surely it's obvious, only the means are man's, the ends are those of the ape...". The average iq is 100. so the 120's are often patting themselves on the back, the 140's are dominating, and the 80's are what...30 odd % of the population. 'Tis a common mistake to believe that others are like us ( when they are frightened and hate us). If only we could be philosophers and had a Lyceum, Academy... (and could type properly Smiler
