This issue has come up several times on the show, but not always with clarity. The Posse Comitatus Act of 1878 does not bar the use of federal armed forces domestically- it actually specifically bars the use of the federal armed forces for law enforcement purposes, with a few exceptions for crises. This is an important distinction.
