Esteemed journalist lectures on ethics

quote:
The media industry has been infested by the rise of pseudo-journalists who go against journalism's long tradition to serve the public with accurate information, Los Angeles Times Editor John S. Carroll told a packed room in the Gerlinger Lounge on Thursday.

Ok... but have you read Al's (O'Franken) book?

Perhaps pseudo journalism or maybe just discriminating between out and out lies!

When I read that the fourth richest man in the world owns a huge percentage of media ... well, it got me thinking... there's nothing pseudo about it. It's just the methedology of a lie that there is not counter to counter.

And now I have that pseudio song in my head with a near bald Phil Collins.

Disclaimer: no I'm not making fun of bald men. I like them especially musicians and actors. I even like bald women as I listend to Senade O' Connor for hours.

The silver lining is that many {at least in my hometown} are getting good at reading between the lines, and discussing it. It took a long time for journalists say that Vietnam was a mistake, too. At least now we have citizens keeping their eye on the media.

How do I contact the following activists?

George Clooney

Alec Baldwin

Jon Stewart

It's frustrating, wanting to offer them support and compliments, but no email address. Wink

Bonnie, I hear a melody in your words.

ALice, I'm guessing your point of access to the celebrity activists would be through their fan clubs.

Hey,This post wasn't duplicated in the email sent to me. Somebody fixed it.
Hope it continues.

Could someone ask Thom if he would please pursue those interviewees who don't answer his questions. They just go off on their own slant. It's very unsatisfying to listen to.

i guess there's nothing to be done about the insurance ad with the woman's teeth clicking, or the Sunsetter ad with the woman being a screeching bitch.
Here's a suggestion: Log onto www.tv.com, and note that there are only 3 words they censor: bitch, cunt and one other that I can't remember.
2 of the 3 deal with women. I was a feminist when we had conscienceness-raising sessions, and it sometimes rises up in me again. Oh, and you can take God's name in vain all you want. Frowner

Catchy isn't it?

Seriously though, the #1 thing I've learned from my entire ADHD ride is you can't wallop people upside the head with truth.

It takes a great deal of grace and finesse -- which I just don't seem have.... ...but, I'm working on it. And like all things, this too can be developed Wink
