Some people like this sort of thing. The divine right of kings. You know, some are more deserving than others and all that sort of thing. That's what a democratic republic is all about!
Right until another group feels that it's THEIR turn now; and then it's the same old all over again.
Very true. It's the way of progress.
The Czar was overturned by the Bolshevisks...the left...and they became the new elite, the Communist Party.
The Communist Party became the new power group, and were overthrown by a new left. Within the Soviet Union, Gorbochev was considered "leftist", and the Communist Party members opposed to reforms of democratization were considered rightists.
The left, when they assume power, ultimately become the new right. A new group in power that seeks to maintain their own power.
We can see this in our own country. Leftists overthrew the Crown. Overthrew the rightists seeking to maintain its power and status quo. Now, we have a new right...corporatists replacing the monarchy.
Such is the way humanity progresses. A continuation of change. A continual undoing of the power of the few over the many.
An economic/social system has yet to evolve that puts an end to this sort of thing. In my own experience, a monastery comes closest to this. A democratic council consisting of all members, an executive (Abbot) who can be replaced in 5 minutes if he exceeds his admin. authority. A combination of capitalist economics with egalitarian distribution of resources. The many control their own destinies to a great extent.
There is no power structure to overthrow.
