The U.S. House of Representatives on Wednesday overwhelmingly approved a bill saying that anyone offering an open Wi-Fi connection to the public must report illegal images including "obscene" cartoons and drawings--or face fines of up to $300,000.

First of all, anyone who hurts a child deserves the death penalty and anyone involved in child porn should spend life in prison.

I don't understand what they just passed in the house. How can a person who owns a Wi-FI connection and offers it to the public be responsible for what people do with the connection. If they want to punish people involved with illegal content, I'm fine with that.

Someone could go to Starbucks and open a dirty cartoon and Starbucks would be looking at a 300K fine.

It passed the House with two No votes one of which was Ron Paul.

A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship.
